I have always been fascinated with how the Lansing government slogan of “Where Michigan Works” characterizes the city. Ever since I have moved here over a few months ago, following my husband and I’s wedding preparations, I keep the slogan in mind, and I always questioned my husband if we really needed to make the wedding happen within Lansing. He merely said ‘Yes’ and concluded the conversation with ‘that is what we are here for.’
But I was convinced Michigan had something more dramatic to offer to a Lansing wedding. How I wish there was a Michigan city or county which would say Where Michigan Rests or Relaxes or something to that effect. I just wanted something more quiet, a wedding away from the buzzing noise of the city. A hotel ballroom could cover up the noise, fine, but that is not the point. A beautiful, meaningful, and solemn ceremony ought to happen in a genuine location that offers something of equal character.
I managed to get a breakthrough via a Lansing wedding expert who showed me options for quiet and solemn outdoor venues. And just by looking at the Castle Farm weddings they had in their portfolio, I knew to myself that I want my wedding to be in that same location.
And even if the venue has been used thousands of times for the same wedding, one can never replicate the ambiance and character that other weddings have experienced. The beauty of nature has its own way of creating a distinct character for a wedding, one after the other.
